Flood 2008
On Saturday, June 14, 2008, the Iowa river that runs through the University of Iowa campus reached
unprecedented
levels, with a crest of 31.5 ft. 21-24" of water entered IATL. On June 21, 2008 BMS-CAT started the recovery of the building. They finished on July 25th. Story Construction started build-back process on August 11th. After many trying months of trying to get the utilities up and running IATL occupants were allowed to re-occupy IATL on October 17, 2008.

The Optical Science and Technology Center of The Univeristy of Iowa offers
scientist and engineers from a wide range of disciplines the opportunity
to collaborate on important and complex research problems in areas of
optical and laser science.

The primary goals of the Center are to:
- Promote research efforts and foster cross-disciplinary interactions
in the areas of basic and applied optical science.
- Attract highly qualified students with interests in optical science
and technology.
- Pursue funding opportunities for multidisciplinary research projects
in optical science and technology.
- Promote interactions with industry in the development and applications
of optical technology.
